How to remove the flux on PCBA?

2024-01-12

During the PCBA production and manufacturing process, some harmless contaminants and by-products may remain on the PCB due to the collaboration of different materials, components, and processes. These residues may affect the operation of the circuit and the quality of the end product, so cleaning is required. The following is a basic introduction to the PCBA cleaning process:

Prepare cleaning equipment: There are many types of cleaning equipment, such as spray cleaning machines, ultrasonic cleaning machines, etc. The required equipment needs to be prepared before use, and each part and equipment needs to be cleaned and disinfected.

Material classification: PCBAs to be cleaned need to be classified into materials, such as different types of electronic components, PCB board materials, etc., to determine which cleaning fluid, cleaning method and other cleaning conditions to use.

Cleaning fluid selection: Choose different types of cleaning fluids, such as deionized water, acidic/alkaline cleaning fluids, etc., depending on the type of PCB board, component type, and pollution type that need to be cleaned.

Selection of cleaning methods: Different PCBA boards require different cleaning methods, such as steam, spray, ultrasonic, soaking, high-pressure water flow and other cleaning methods. When choosing a cleaning method, you must consider not only the cleaning effect, but also factors such as the material of the PCB board and the anti-pollution properties of the components.

Cleaning fluid concentration control: Depending on the concentration of the cleaning fluid, the cleaning effect will also change. Usually the concentration of the cleaning fluid is selected to be around 2%~5%, which can be adjusted in time by regularly monitoring the concentration.

Post-cleaning treatment: Cleaned PCBA boards and electronic components need to be cleaned and dried, and the cleaning fluid needs to be recycled or completely discharged.

It should be noted that when performing the PCBA cleaning process, corresponding cleaning equipment and professional knowledge are required to ensure the safety of the cleaning process and the accuracy of factors such as measurement errors.
